The short version: we built Contextly so we couldn't see your data, even if we wanted to. The long version follows.
Nothing. Contextly does not have user accounts, does not require registration, and does not send your notes, calendar events, transcripts, or summaries to any server we operate. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter that captures your content, and no telemetry.
Your notes are stored in a local database on your Mac. If you enable iCloud sync from within Contextly, that database is replicated through your iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit — the data stays inside your Apple ID and never reaches Contextly's servers (we don't operate any). You can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings → Sync.
Contextly reads calendar events from the system Calendar app via EventKit, with your permission. Audio transcription and AI summaries run on-device through Apple Intelligence. None of this content is transmitted off your Mac by Contextly.
If you choose to send an action step to Things, Todoist, or another external app, that specific item is handed off to that app via its public API. We do not see or store the contents of those handoffs.
Contextly is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple handles all payment, receipts, and subscription management. We receive aggregate, anonymized sales reports from Apple — never your name, email, or payment details.
If you write to us at support@contextlynotes.app, we'll have your email address and the contents of what you sent — used only to reply. We don't add you to a mailing list.
If this policy ever changes, the "Last updated" date above will change with it, and we'll post a note in the app's release notes.
